60 Decibels is a state-of-the-art impact measurement company that facilitates the
listen to the people who matter most. We have been in business as an independent
entity since early 2019, when we parted ways with the global Impact Investor Acumen.
We believe the best way to understand social impact is to talk to people
experiencing this impact. It seems obvious when you say it, but it’s not the
typical practice for many impact investors, corporations and foundations working at
create social change.

We collect social impact data directly from beneficiaries (customers / employees /
providers) using our network of over 1000 trained research assistants in over 75 countries.
We do it quickly and without the hassle usually associated with social measurement
impact. Our research assistants speak directly to clients to understand their stories
live; and our team transforms all this data into benchmark social performance
reports, along with information, to help our customers demonstrate and improve
social performance.

enable organizations to improve their products and services; we also help transform
what it means to credibly measure impact, ensuring that the voices of those who
matter most are still part of the story. If you are also passionate about our

we are looking for a Controller to join our team.

About the role: As a controller for 60 decibels, you will supervise several
disciplines within the finance function in partnership with the finance director
the American parent company and its foreign subsidiaries.

More specifically, your responsibilities will include:

Develop and maintain written accounting policies for major
financial areas, including revenue recognition (ASC 606), intangible assets
and software development.
● Develop, organize and direct the accounting function of the organization and
performance.
● Managed and led the multi-entity and multi-currency monthly close
process to ensure accurate and timely execution in accordance with GAAP
● Multi-state tax compliance, including franchise tax, sales and use tax and
corporate taxation, in partnership with external tax advisers.
● Supervise AR and Invoicing functions and ensure fast and efficient cash flow
management
● Oversee the AP function, including payments to our 900+ global researchers,
always innovating and seeking solutions for best practices.
● Oversee the payroll function including multi-state payroll, taxes, payroll deductions,
401k, workers compensation and other payroll related compliances
● Oversee tax matters, including the development of key tax processes
● Assist in maintaining the employee incentive plan, also including
accounting policies and processes
● Contribute to the development and maintenance of continuous budgeting and
forecasting models
● Provide technical advice and knowledge to others in financial disciplines.
● Lead the annual audit process and act as a key liaison with our
listeners
● Relationship with banks and other stakeholders ensuring compliance with
banking requirements and regulations
● Own the company’s accounting / ERP solution and ensure maximum
automation and efficiency of the accounting function.
● Ensure compliance with statutory laws and financial regulations
● Strengthening of processes to mitigate financial risks in the organization.

● CPA or 10+ years in accounting management
● Previous experience leading financial operations in an SME environment.
● Previous experience in a service business or personnel-intensive operations
● Previous experience in managing financial statement preparation and month-end close
● Previous payroll, state and federal tax and compliance experience
● Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
● Strong knowledge of US GAAP
● Solid knowledge of US and local tax compliance (SALT)
● Extensive knowledge of all facets of financial and accounting operations
including general accounting, accounts payable/receivable,
purchasing, banking, budgeting, auditing, financial forecasting.
● Ability to work independently and in a team
● Ability to keep confidential and sensitive information.
● Skilled in organizing work and prioritizing tasks

Location: Our preference is for the controller to be based in New York. We are open
to (very) solid candidates from other places with the skills and
live. This is expected to be a hybrid role – we work remotely 2-3
days a week and are in the office 2-3 days a week.

Compensation: 60 Decibels offers competitive compensation and benefits
package including an annual bonus and access to the company’s stock incentive plan;
and the opportunity to work in a flexible, fun and supportive environment.
Remuneration will be commensurate with experience and will depend on location.
