idolplus, multimedia platform for K-pop artists, launched globally in six languages

Seoul, South Korea–(BUSINESS WIRE)–LG Uplus (CEO: Hyeon-sik Hwang) (KRX: 032640) has changed the name of its media platform for K-pop artists, U+ idol Live, to idolplus, and launched a six-language web service, including English, Chinese and Japanese.

idolplus is a K-pop live performance streaming platform launched in 2018 as U+ idol Live. It has established itself as a media platform specializing in K-pop artists by continuously expanding content for K-pop fans to around 35,000. In addition to original content featuring popular K-pop artists , famous concerts and award shows can be viewed for free on the platform.

Main contents include “IDOLLIVE School: Searching for IDOLLIVE School Ambassador”, a show showcasing the talents of K-pop artists, “IDOLWORKSHOP”, a workshop of K-pop artists as office workers for one day, and “The Door: To the Strange World”, a variety series of situational game-based mystery games. A large number of K-pop artists and groups, such as NCT Dream, ITZY, VIVIZ, Kep1er and BTOB, appeared on the shows.

idolplus not only offers a wide range of high-resolution and high-quality content, including original shows, performances and award shows, but also close-up views of each member of K-pop groups. The content of idolplus, which is available in six languages, namely Korean, English, Chinese, Japanese, Thai and Indonesian, will be continuously expanded. Free picture-in-picture (PIP) and background playback features are also provided.

From September 8 (Thu) to 20 (Tue), idolplus will hold an event to celebrate its global launch. Through a lottery, attendees of the event will win tickets to The Fact Music Award 2022 which will take place in Korea on October 8 (Saturday).

Voting for the TMA idolplus Popularity Award will also take place. This special prize awarded by idolplus and K-pop fans by vote will be presented to the artists during the TMA Awards ceremony. After a preliminary vote to select the candidates between September 1 (Thursday) and September 12 (Monday), the top 30 artists based on the number of votes received will enter the final round of voting. Final voting will open on September 13 (Tuesday) and will continue until October 4 (Tuesday). All global fans can participate in the vote.

2022 TMA, which will be streamed live on the idolplus webpage, is a festival for K-pop artists and fans around the world. In 2022, it will be held as an offline event for the first time in three and a half years. K-pop stars, such as Stray Kids, ITZY, (G)I-DLE, IVE, and THE BOYZ, are gearing up to give impressive performances at the event.
