HomeToGo Releases Travel Trend Forecast 2022

Trend # 1: Focus on relaxation and private getaways

With 63% of respondents to a recent HomeToGo global consumer survey, relaxation is their top travel motivation.2 Island destinations saw significant growth in demand for short-term rentals in 2022, with Bali (+ 611% increase in searches), Sanibel Island (+ 567%) and Saint Lucia (+ 560% ) at the top of the top three destinations. growth in global research demand.3

Trend # 2: Resurgence of tourist regions

Among American travelers, searches for 2022 stays in the United States increased by 23%.4 Elsewhere in the world, HomeToGo’s survey found that 28% of UK travelers aim to travel more to their country, even after travel has fully reopened.1 Among German tourists, the share of travel represented by domestic travel is expected to increase by + 62% compared to 2019.4
